Nachtigal Group No. 1 certificate of proven overall ability signed

On 14 June 2024, the official signing ceremony of the Certificate of Demonstrated Overall Capacity for Group Nº1 of the Nachtigal hydroelectric scheme was held between the Managing Directors of NHPC, SONATREL and ENEO, major players in the Cameroon electricity sector. The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Water and Energy (MINEE) and NHPC’s technical and financial partners.
The signing of this certificate marks the official commissioning of the Nachtigal No. 1 unit (60 MW), as announced, one month after its synchronisation and coupling to the Southern Interconnected Grid, enabling the first megawatt-hours produced by Nachtigal to be injected into and supplied to the grid.
Nachtigal: construction work progressing well
The signing of the Nachtigal Group No. 1 Certificate of Demonstrated Overall Capacity represents a significant step forward for the Nachtigal project, which was 94.5% complete at the end of last month.
NHPC remains committed to delivering the entire Nachtigal hydropower scheme by December 2024. Work is continuing on the progressive commissioning of the other 6 units over the coming months.
When finally commissioned, Nachtigal will supply 420 MW, or 30% of Cameroon’s energy needs. The energy produced by Nachtigal will be transported by SONATREL and distributed by ENEO.

Le Groupe N°1 de Nachtigal officiellement en service
Le 14 juin 2024 s’est tenue la cérémonie officielle de signature du certificat de capacité globale démontrée du Groupe Nº1 de l’aménagement hydroélectrique de Nachtigal entre les Directeurs Généraux de NHPC, SONATREL et ENEO, acteurs majeurs du secteur de l’électricité du Cameroun. Cela s’est passé en présence du Ministre de l’Eau et de l’Energie (MINEE) et partenaires techniques et financiers de NHPC.
La signature de ce certificat marque la mise en service officielle du Groupe N°1 de Nachtigal (60 MW), comme annoncé, un mois après sa synchronisation et son couplage au Réseau Interconnecté Sud, permettant l’injection et la fourniture au réseau des premiers mégawattheures produits par Nachtigal.
Nachtigal, les travaux de construction avancent bien
La signature du certificat de capacité globale démontrée du Groupe N°1 de l’aménagement hydroélectrique de Nachtigal représente une avancée significative pour le projet Nachtigal qui est à 94,5% achevé à fin mal.
NHPC reste résolue à livrer l’ensemble de l’aménagement hydroélectrique de Nachtigal en décembre 2024. Les travaux se poursuivent dans ce sens pour la mise en service progressive des 6 autres groupes de l’aménagement au cours des prochains mois.
Pour rappel, à sa mise en service définitive, Nachtigal fournira 420MW, soit 30% des besoins énergétiques du Cameroun. L’énergie produite par Nachtigal sera transportée par la SONATREL et distribuée par ENEO.
